The opportunity has arisen for an experienced, self-motivated, and innovative Physiotherapist to join our Acute Neurosciences Therapy team as the lead for the team working in the Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit. The broader team is led by a Clinical Lead Therapist and provides care to both inpatients and the intensive care unit. The Team Lead Physiotherapist post will lead and work collaboratively with the dynamic multi-professional team on the -bedded Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to deliver early high-quality specialist assessments and rehabilitation. They will manage a clinical caseload of highly complex neurosurgical and neuro-medical patients.

They will also have a Team Lead role, being responsible for operational management, supervising and teaching Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistants and Physiotherapy students and initiating and leading in audit, quality improvement and evidence-based projects.

Main duties of the job Responsible for operational management and overall development of the NICU and ENT Physiotherapy service. Use expert knowledge and skills to contribute to strategic planning and development of the Physiotherapy service for NICU and ENT. Use expert clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist support and advice to the NICU and ENT team. Leads and is responsible for the supervision and teaching of senior and junior Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy students within NICU. Maintain a clinical caseload of highly complex patients as an autonomous practitioner. Responsible for leadership in maintaining and improving all aspects of evidence-based practice and quality assurance in NICU. Supervise, initiate and participate in evidence-based projects and is responsible for implementing changes within the NICU and the setting and monitoring of standards of practice. Contribute to the cardiorespiratory care services development across the Trust. Represent Physiotherapy at relevant Critical Care networks within the Trust and the Thames Valley Health Authority as an alternate when required.  To liaise with AICU, CICU, CTCCU and Neurosciences Inpatients team leads with regards to provision of patient care across the Trust sites.
