JobSummary:

  • TheBuilding Control Team delivers CBCs Building Control and BuildingRegulation duties and is responsible for Regulation and Compliancethrough advice and enforcement at scheme appraisal anddetermination and site inspection during the constructionphase.
  • KeyRegulatory areas covered are health safety sustainability energyandaccessibility.

KeyDuties/Accountabilities(Sample):

  • Provideexpert specialist Building Regulation compliance advice tousers.
  • Investigateand enforce compliance matters andcomplaints.
  • Collectand maintain accurate Building Regulation and Building Controlrecords.
  • Validationof applications and assessment offees.
  • Planassessment and site inspection: regulatory advice compliancechecking and siteinspection.
  • Dealwith Building Regulation application cases throughout plan andimplementationstages.
  • Dealwith complex Building Regulation cases throughout advice planimplementation and enforcementstages.
  • Supportand guidance of less experiencedcolleagues.
  • Prioritisationof tasks within the team* and service delivery as part of thatteam.

Skills/Experience:

  • Applicantsshould be able to demonstrate an understanding of Building Controlprocesses and experience working in a building controlservice.
  • Thework involves managing a range of building control duties to dealwith varied projects in urban and rural locations around theCouncilarea.
  • Thisrole will work closely with colleagues team members our regulatorypartners and our applicants and deals with regulatory complianceenforcement and all aspects of BuildingRegulations.
  • Youwill have strong communication skills and can show experience andevidence of working on a range ofprojects.

AdditionalInformation:

  • CentralBedfordshire Council are currently seeking to recruit a BSRregistered and experienced Class 2 F Building Control Inspector toevaluate applications and fees carry out plan checking siteinspections provide special Building Regulatory advice andinvestigate and enforcecompliance.
  • Youwill have a degree (or equivalent qualification and experience) inBuilding Control Surveying and be eligible for BSR registration asa Class 2 buildinginspector.


Applicants should be able to demonstrate an understanding ofBuilding Control processes and experience working in a buildingcontrol service. The work involves managing a range of buildingcontrol duties to deal with varied projects in urban and rurallocations around the Council area. This role will work closely withcolleagues, team members, our regulatory partners and ourapplicants and deals with regulatory compliance, enforcement, andall aspects of Building Regulations. You will have strongcommunication skills and can show experience and evidence ofworking on a range of projects.
