The Royal Collection is one of the largest and most important art collections in the world and is spread among royal residences and former residences across the UK, as well as being shown at The Kings Galleries and in loans to museums and galleries around the World.

The Pictures branch is responsible for all the paintings, drawings, watercolours, prints, photographs, miniatures and fans in the Royal Collection. Based at Windsor Castle, you’ll provide administrative support to conservators and curators in the Paintings and Paper Conservation Studios, the Prints and Drawings collection, and the Photograph collection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working at the heart of these teams, you’ll be responsible for managing a wide range of administrative tasks to ensure their smooth daily running.
  • As a key point of contact, you'll be relied upon as a source of information, liaising with and helping colleagues across the organisation and beyond.
  • Arranging transport for works of art and travel arrangements for colleagues, coordinating contractors, and supporting Health and Safety and property management – you’ll build relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Organising and assisting with individual and group visits to the studios, study rooms and other areas, you’ll help promote the work of the teams.
  • Working with colleagues, you’ll monitor budgets and expenditure and ensure timely IR35 checks and contractor payments
About you 1

Essential Criteria

  • An experienced administrator having already worked in a busy office setting.
  • Digitally fluent, you’ll have accurate keyboard skills, a good working knowledge of the MS Office suite and can pick up new systems quickly.
  • Pro-active and with lots of initiative, you'll be confident juggling a varied workload to balance priorities and deadlines.
  • With excellent communication skills, you'll be confident liaising and building relationships with a wide range of people.
  • At your best working as part of a team, you’ll have a flexible ‘can-do’ approach.
  • With an eye for detail and good written skills, you can produce correspondence and reports in a variety of formats.
