Rated fully “Good” by the CQC in 2023, this hospital plays an active role in elective health services for NHS, self-funded, and insured patients from each corner of the South West; ingrained is a strongly patient-centred culture and high standards of safety, with strict clinical governance initiatives leading to a 100% clean record for HAIs. The gastroenterology department itself (JAG-accredited) is a relaxed yet well-structured and high-performing environment, with the team garnering an outstanding reputation for their deep professional expertise and compassionate, attentive approach to patient concerns.

As a Consultant Gastroenterologist, you will lead the endoscopy service and offer expert clinical opinion for patients referred to the department for both upper and lower gastrointestinal concerns, taking advantage of keenly modern facilities and the latest in medical technologies. You’ll primarily be performing day case procedures, carried out under local anaesthesia or without sedation. And, very much part of a well-established, far-reaching medical network, you will be supported to take your career and learning in the direction you wish to go.

This is a permanent, full-time position over the working week; 4 days to be spent in practice, with the fifth day fixed and for your own professional use. Part-time can also be considered.

 

Person specification:

  • Full GMC and Specialist registration with substantial evidence of practice in target area (relevant to Consultant Gastroenterologist)
  • JAG accreditation
  • High level of experience in the treatment of both upper and lower gastrointestinal conditions, to include performing diagnostic and therapeutic GI endoscopic procedures
