The Apprenticeship Program:
The Apprenticeship Programme at Bloomberg is an exciting opportunity to enter the company in a full-time role, take on real responsibility, and discover new skills from day one. The Bloomberg Net Zero Research and Data Management Team:

That’s why we’re taking action, using our expertise in data – and decades of experience leading from the front – to tackle climate change from every angle. Climate change is changing the way market participants allocate capital, and the ability for businesses and investors to understand their climate related impacts, risks, and mitigation pathways is crucial.
As part of the Net Zero Research & Data Team you will have a direct impact on global efforts to fight climate change. This is the chance to have an enormous impact on supporting the global financial sector’s work to stop climate change and ensuring that financing and capital allocation decisions occur in ways that enable the world to reach net zero by 2050 in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement. As an apprentice in this team, you will collaborate with product, design and researchers to provide a trusted, central source of company-level climate data that is transparent and openly accessible to all. You will help to shape and drive the technical tools, techniques, and workflows used for data management across the backend infrastructure. Your role will focus on managing data flows, developing automated quality control scripts, guaranteeing data cleanliness and reliability.
Eligibility criteria:
Bachelor's degree in a numerate subject (minimum 2.2) OR a minimum of five years’ experience in a data analytics or data engineering role Strong proficiency of Python is a key requirement for this role, with knowledge of languages such as SQL and associated programming tools for data ingestion an advantage. Learners must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship in a similar subject Possess the right to work in the UK Have lived in the UK continuously for the past 3 years
What we would like to see:
Strong understanding of data ingestion pipelines including programmatic data validation and transformation Understanding of data quality practices and finding opportunities for process improvements and optimizations Understanding of data and statistical methods such as regressions, correlations, coefficient of variation, distributions, chi-square distribution, standard deviations, confidence intervals and time-series analysis. Understanding of the importance of quantitative methods in analysis and decision making Strong ability to critique and question data sources Rigorous attention to detail and a commitment to high quality work Intellectual curiosity with the ability to cut through the noise of data by critically evaluating and interrogating complex datasets and quickly discovering trends and patterns to develop key insights Knowledge of data architecture Familiarity working with APIs Interest in having a direct impact on global efforts to fight climate change
