A primary school inHammersmith & Fulham is seeking a dedicated SEN SpecialistTeaching Assistant to work with children with sensory impairments.Experience in special educational needs (SEN) is essential alongwith a passion for helping children succeed in a supportive andinclusiveenvironment.

With a focus onindividualised support the school aims to empower every child toachieve their full potential through tailored learning experiencesand dedicatedassistance.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide1:1 and small group support for children with sensory impairmentsadapting teaching methods to suit individualneeds.
  • Assist in the development andimplementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) incollaboration with teachers and theSENCO.
  • Foster a positive and engaging learningenvironment that encourages student participation andconfidence.
  • Work closely with externalspecialists such as occupational therapists and speech therapiststo integrate recommended strategies into theclassroom.
  • Monitor student progress andcommunicate effectively with teachers and parents regardingachievements and areas forimprovement.
  • Participate in training anddevelopment opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills relatedto sensory impairments andSEN.

Experience andQualifications:

  • Provenexperience working with children with sensory impairments orspecial educational needs in a school setting isessential.
  • Strong communication skills and theability to build trusting relationships with students and theirfamilies.
  • A patient and empathetic approachwith a genuine desire to help childrensucceed.
  • Relevant qualifications in educationor child development (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistantqualification) are desirable.
  • A DBS check isrequired.
