Job Opportunity: Science Technician (Secondary School) - Rawtenstall

Are you a skilled Science Technician looking for a new challenge? We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team at a secondary school in Rawtenstall, starting immediately after the October half-term. This role offers the potential for a temporary-to-permanent opportunity for the right candidate.

Role Overview: As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our Science Department, ensuring that all practical lessons run smoothly and safely. You will be responsible for preparing and maintaining laboratory equipment, managing resources, and assisting teachers during experiments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up equipment and materials for science lessons, ensuring all resources are available and in good working order.
  • Assist teachers during practical lessons, providing technical support and ensuring health and safety standards are maintained.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, including regular cleaning, servicing, and ordering of new supplies as needed.
  • Support the department in managing stock levels, updating inventories, and ensuring all chemicals and materials are stored safely.
  • Assist in the development and preparation of teaching resources and materials.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous experience as a Science Technician in a school or laboratory setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and experience handling chemicals and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting the needs of the Science Department.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
