We have a newopportunity for anEstimatorto support our Landscaping team at Ground Control. The overallobjective of this role is to win new work in line with businessrequirements and provide accurate prime costs for the works andproviding accurate information at settlement meetings. This is anexciting and dynamic role that is crucial to the success of thedivision.

You will be driven to succeed and drawon your experience to provide estimates which consider a wide rangeof technical and practical impacts on the anticipated margins. Youwill support your colleagues in the wider business with pricingqueries and attend site as required.

Keyresponsibilities are as follows;

  • Beconversant with the main forms of contract used in ourindustry
  • Have a clear understanding of drawingsspecifications and all supporting information to accurately prepareestimates in accordance with requests fortender
  • Primary contact with supplierssubcontractors estimators designers engineers and architects toobtain the necessary information to prepare a comprehensive andaccurate bid response.
  • Review designs foralternative materials and prepare estimates in accordance with theguidelines provided by the contractor.
  • Abilityto calculate and compile take off data for use in bid proposalestimates on time
  • Demonstrate flexibility toperform and complete duties wherever volume deems it necessary andwith strong attention todetail.
  • Confidentiality of Company customersupplier and employee information ismaintained.
  • Strong analytical and observationskills which demonstrate the ability to set a course ordirection.
  • Proficient with computer softwareprograms including OnScreen Takeoff pricing software Word ExcelOutlook
  • Pricing from firstprinciples
  • Pricing Soft and Hard worksincluding groundworks
  • Undertake sitevisits

Any skills in the followingwould also be a real advantage;

  • Bidwriting support (working with our bid writingteam)
  • Pricing works for direct clients andunderstanding CDM requirements

Onwinning tenders you will be responsible for preparing a detailedtender handover summary document identifying key elements of thetender including but not limited to tender philosophy strategyfinancial and resourcing analysis risks and opportunities criticaland long lead in times for materials and subcontractorprocurement.

In addition you will provide supportand develop other members of the estimating team ensuring that theyare effectively performing their key accountabilities for thecompany on each project.

There is real flexibilityon the location of this role as you can work remotely for most ofyour time. We have our head office in Billericay Essex a satelliteoffice in the West Midlands and also an office in London but youcan be predominantly working from home with some sitebased visitswhen required.

Wed love to hear from existingexperienced Estimators within the Landscape Construction industry.Experience within groundworks estimating or within the drainageindustry especially experience across SUDs.

Youllhave a solid commercial background in bid and tender managementacross hard and soft landscaping as wellas;

  • Excellent analytical writing andpresentation skills with the ability to shape written solutionsindependently
  • Strong commercial skills with agood working understanding of frameworks /contract and riskmanagement.
  • Demonstrable experience ofunderstanding and developing service solutions in an efficientmanner.
  • A track record of success in winningand retaining service industry basedaccounts
  • Strong stakeholder managementskills
  • A hands on approach to yourwork
