Job summary

Are you a Registered Nurse who could provide dynamic clinical and managerial nursing leadership in our Inpatient unit? Do you want to make a positive difference by working with an innovative and respected organisation which delivers high quality support to people affected by life-limiting illnesses across Somerset?

St Margaret's Hospice Care has a fantastic opportunity for a Junior Sister to join our specialist palliative inpatient unit. Based in Taunton, you will join us on a 30 hour parttime, permanent basis.

This role is classified as a D level post within St Margaret's Hospice Clinical Services pay framework and has a current salary of £31,057 pro rata per annum plus an unsocial hours enhancement of 14% (equivalent to an Agenda for Change Band 6).

Main duties of the job

This is a chance to deliver inspirational management and leadership to our inpatient unit. Working alongside the Senior Sister, you will help role model specialist palliative care nursing, ensuring care is delivered to a high standard. In addition, you will ensure all aspects of the role, such as use of human and financial resources, are undertaken in an efficient and effective way.

You will need to have established experience in palliative & end of life care.

The post holder will be responsible for the management of nursedevelopment including induction, mentorship, clinical supervision andfacilitating practice based learning.

As part of our Senior management team you will ensure the efficientand effective running of the unit including analysis of activity levels, use ofhuman and financial resources and appraisal of staff performance. Your rolewill be to assist the Senior Sister with overall responsibility for theclinical and managerial nursing service, whilst ensuring the highest ofstandards are delivered.

Qualifications

Essential

RN on Part 1 or Part 2 of the NMC Register Willingness to work towards a Diploma or Degree in Health Studies

Desirable

Diploma/Degree in Health Studies Working towards Degree in Palliative Care Teaching qualification and experience Proven ability in Mentorship

In depth knowledge of 3 palliative care or related experience Evidence of personal and professional development and updating A high standard of nursing skill and knowledge
