We are looking for a passionate and dedicated SEMH Teacher to join one of our partner schools in Hertford and make a real difference.

We currently have two full-time positions available, one to teach English, and one to teach Science to KS3 students. 

Our client school's recent OFSTED Rating 2023 - Overall Good (Outstanding for 'Behaviour and Attitudes').

Job Description:

As an SEMH / PRU Teacher, you will:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with SEMH.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters emotional well-being and academic growth.
  • Work in an environment with 4 students per class to foster a more person centred approach to learning and meeting the students needs. 
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) in collaboration with the wider team.
  • Employ a variety of teaching strategies and resources to cater to different learning styles and abilities.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and reports to students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, support staff, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, encouraging resilience, self-esteem, and positive behavior.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs, ideally within a PRU or similar setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH issues and strategies to support students with these needs.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging behaviors.
  • Compassionate, patient, and resilient, with a genuine commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable students.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.

Desirable:

  • Additional qualifications or training in SEMH, special education, or related areas.
  • Experience in developing and implementing EHCPs
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in SEN education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
