Project Worker 2

Ilford, United Kingdom Barnardos Full time

We are excited to be recruiting a Project Worker for our Barnardo's Adoption South East service.

We aim to achieve high quality, stable homes for children and young people by robust assessment and support for adopters. Ensuring that adopters are appropriately recruited, assessed, trained, and supported within the required regulations and national minimum standards.

The post is 30 hours a week and will have a degree of flexibility.

The job role is primarily a working from home post and will be based around a hybrid model of working virtually and attending meetings face to face when necessary. You will be required to travel around the Southeast (Kent, London, Essex, Hampshire, Sussex and Surrey.) You will also need to travel nationally on occasion should the role require it. You should be comfortable working virtually to a high standard. Due to this role being homebased you will need to be highly motivated and able to work independently.

The role frequently requires working outside of contracted hours (for example evenings and weekends), for which time off in lieu can be claimed.

The person that would be suitable for this role would be genuinely interested in adoption and the welfare of children and families. You should have good communication skills and understand the needs of children looked after. The role will involve information gathering and talking to families on regular basis as well as liaising with managers and social workers.

A knowledge of the Adoption process (stage one and two) is desirable as well as the ability to complete administrative tasks and record accurately. You may need to work in partnership with other professionals and agencies dealing with a wide range of cases including safeguarding, delivering training, building positive relationships and working as part of a team.

When completing your application please refer to your skills knowledge and experience in relation to the Person Specification, Job Description and Additional Information document (if applicable). This should be done with an understanding of the context of the service described.

Barnardo's is currently moving towards a new way of working that provides greater flexibility for you to choose when and where you carry out your responsibilities within the UK and makes job opportunities more accessible. Barnardo's will only expect you to be in an office when necessary and will provide flexible spaces for innovation and collaboration.

We are committed to welcoming people from a diverse background, culture and experience. Barnardo's believe in creating equality of opportunity in the workplace and supporting people to manage their work-life balance; we are therefore are open to offering flexible working arrangements.

Pay & Reward Framework

We know that our colleagues go above and beyond in delivering our vital work, driven by their passion and commitment to Barnardo's . We also know that we can only realise our ambitions and achieve better outcomes for more children, thanks to the talent, hard work and creativity of our people.

For all these reasons, we are committed to a new approach to pay and reward, to ensure it is fair, attractive and progressive, which was rolled out in April 2023. This is a positive change for the charity, and a part of our Strategy. It will assist us in supporting colleagues to belong, thrive and grow in their colleague journey at Barnardo's and in time will offer clear routes of progression for colleagues in both their career and their pay.

Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band – this ensures that pay steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours. More details on Barnardo's pay framework can be found upon application.
