Job summary
The NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service (SPS) supports the NHS to develop best practice systems of work-related to buying, making and using medicines. The service provides leadership, instructive and informative specialist input and operational support to the sourcing, supply and use of medicines across the system. Our strengths are borne out of connecting national expertise with policy teams and arm's length bodies to ensure consistency and high standards. The service supports both regional and local connections to ensure that the service's outputs resonate with and support local NHS organisations which deliver care to patients. The key successes of SPS are through the development and delivery of their "Do Once and Share" methodology.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an exceptional pharmacist with excellent subject matter expertise in mental health particularly within primary care. You will be confident in presenting your subject matter expertise, advocating for mental health as a national priority, and articulating the challenges around mental health in primary care.

Understand the context and challenges of mental health in primary care in order to support the pharmacy workforce, translating national drivers into local practice Build strong relationships and network with other experts and disciplines, both as individuals and organisations, to identify and support good practice, ensuring a person-centred approach at all times. Qualifications
Essential
Vocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent Postgraduate degree in pharmacy practice/clinical pharmacy/mental health or can demonstrate equivalent knowledge and relevant experience Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice
Desirable
Committee member (or similar) of nationally recognised body in mental health and pharmacy Able to demonstrate consultant level practice in mental health, using the NHS consultant pharmacist framework
Experience
Essential
Demonstrable experience related to the practice of clinical pharmacy in a range of settings but particularly out-of-hospital care in the area of mental health Experience as a pharmacy team leader delivering projects and/or day to day services Experience of developing and implementing policies across an NHS organisation Experience of developing patient care pathways and services in the area of mental health
Desirable
Experience of working with community and general practice-based pharmacists to implement and deliver improvements to mental health services around medicines

Excellent clinical pharmacy skills and knowledge and experience of their application in mental health community and bedded settings, as well as primary and secondary care settings High level recognised expertise in mental health and medicines Advanced reasoning skills. Able to make decisions and solves problems creatively in the absence of recognised guidance Contemporary knowledge of NHS policy and detailed understanding of its application in primary, secondary and tertiary care Able to deploy leadership skills to achieve demonstrable change and inspire staff Able to perform at a high level in the face of uncertainty and can recognise priorities among a range of activities Highly developed skills in communicating and influencing service users and multi-professional audiences at local, regional or national level (oral, written and other media) including excellent presentation skills Excellent interpersonal and managerial skills. Able to manage and resolve conflict and facilitate discussion in complex or challenging situations Demonstrates tact, empathy and diplomacy in dealing with and communicating sensitive information Highly developed IT skills, Microsoft Office, email and internet programs Demonstrates record of completing projects to time.
