So as an Apprentice at A&P Group, what will you do?

  • We're offering an incredible opportunity for ambitious individuals to become part of our team here at A&P Tyne. You'll gain real-world skills as you work alongside experts in their field.
  • With our apprenticeships you'll earn while you learn and receive job-specific training, experience and recognised qualifications that will kickstart your career.
  • You'll study at college and also receive hands on instruction, with ongoing guidance to make sure that your skills continue to develop throughout your apprenticeship
  • Through our on-boarding and site induction process you'll get off to a good start, most importantly ensuring PPE and safe working practices are instilled and you'll learn about real working life  
  • You'll be training to apprenticeship standards and regulations
  • When you you're ready for tests and exams, you'll work with the team to arrange and make sure you're fully prepared for them
  • You'll have regular check-ins and updates with our managers, and our skilled tradespeople to review your progress , gaining constructive feedback to help with your development and overcome any challenges you face   
  • Maintaining your equipment, you'll ensure its all in good working condition and safe

We currently have the following apprenticeships available;

  • Welders x 5  
  • Platers x 5
  • Electrical Fitter
  • Pipe Fitter/Plumber
  • Health and Safety

All apprenticeships are four years with the exception of Health and Safety, which is two years.

And what are we looking for?

  • Most importantly, a desire to pick up knowledge and experience and become one of the next generation of employees at A&P Tyne 
  • Qualifications, Minimum of 4 GCSEs including English and Maths (Grade 4-9).  Science is also required for the electrical fitter and plumber roles (Grade 4-9)
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a hands-on, fast-paced environment including organisation and problem-solving skills
  • Number skills, Analytical skills and Logic
  • Initiative, Physical fitness and tenacity with self-discipline to work at your best day all day every day
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • This role may involve working outdoors, working at heights and in confined spaces throughout the facility based on the banks of the River Tyne

  • Annual wage, Company Pension, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, Health Shield, Death in Service benefit
  • Working week Monday - Thursday 0700–1500hrs and Friday, 0700-1430hrs. 37 per week

Due to the nature of what we do for some of the customers that we work with, some roles working for A&P are subject to security control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors including your nationality, any previous nationalities you have held, and your place of birth may limit those roles you can perform with us.

You must also undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before your employment starts, which will include a basic DBS check.
