Job summary

Fairfield Park Health Centre are looking to welcome a committed Salaried GPto join our excellent team, working 4 sessions a week (3 at our dedicated medical centre at Bath Spa University and 1 at Fairfield Park Health Centre). The role will be term time only.

We are a busy teaching practice with a well-established patient list butunderstand the need to manage workload to establish a work/life balance for ourteam. Currently we are served by 4 Partners and 6 salaried GPs andlocated in a purpose-built surgery on the north side of Bath. We have a widemultidisciplinary team, which includes: ANPs, Nurses, HCAs, Clinical Pharmacist,Pharmacy Technicians, Physio & First Contact Physio and Social Prescriber.The team are all located on site.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will manage a patient caseload and deal with a wide range ofhealth needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of carefor all our patients. In accordance with our practice rota (as agreed),the post holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety ofduties, including face to face surgery consultations, same day walk in and waitappointments, telephone consultations, checking/signing repeat prescriptionsand issuing scripts. There will also be some on call responsibility.

About us

Our surgeries are a combination of either routine pre-booked or same dayappointments and the format is a combination of telephone and face to facecontacts.

We have a low home visiting rate as we have excellent support from our PCNParamedic & regular clinical & non clinical meetings on a Thursdaylunchtime.

Fairfield Park Health Centre is part of the Independent Primary CareNetwork, so we have close links with Batheaston and Widcombe Surgeries.

Job responsibilities

Key Areas of Clinical Responsibility

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation. Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems. Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness. Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols. Providing counselling and health education. Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate. Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards. Collecting data for audit purposes. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible). Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate. Assist with the supervision of registrars. In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care. Person Specification

Essential

Willingness to share and collaborate across entire primary health team. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams. Ability to work flexibly. Ability to recognize own limitations and act upon them appropriately. Willingness to learn new skills and to problem solve on a daily basis.

Qualifications

Essential

Fully qualified GP, eligible to practice in the UK with GMC registration & on the Medical Performers List. Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate). Evidence of continued professional development. Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.

Experience

Essential

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Ability to prioritise work and work under pressure. Organised/efficient in record keeping and completion of paperwork. Clinical Governance. Delivery of QoF targets and other practice objectives/targets.

Desirable

Experience of TPP SystmOne. Experience of Accurx. Experience of EPS prescribing. Adaptability to change. Service Development. Experience or willingness to support GP Registrars in their daily surgeries. Self-audit and reflection.
