Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Ward Clerk in the Private Care Department . You will have the unique opportunity to support and gain experience of patient administration to support our clinics and inpatient areas being part of a small and ambitious friendly team.

The post holder will provide a pivotal administrative service to patients and consultants and our clinical teams. They will work flexibly with the other team members within Private Care and provide a professional, efficient administrative service to patients.

In addition they will be expected to be able to provide scheduling support , including the booking of appointments .

This post is permanent and is fulltime , working shifts to cover Monday to Friday 7-7pm and rotational Saturday mornings .

We welcome part time applicants.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an independent, enthusiastic and well organised person to join our busy team. The ideal candidate will have good interpersonal and organising skills, attention to detail, IT skills and ability to communicate across all levels.

The successful candidate will be providing support to the clinical teams, Inpatient executives and ensuring continuation of service at all times.

Duties will include: preparing notes, reception duties, supporting clinics, doing general administration, chasing results, managing e-mail inbox, booking appointments, ordering supplies liaising with internal stakeholders.

This role will be working alongside the In Wark Clerk within the Private Care Team. All staff are supported with their training needs and regularly share learning opportunities within the department.

Job responsibilities

Job PurposeThe post holder will act as a point of contact for all administrative issues relating to patients pathway of care for the clinical team The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and will provide support to the (IPE) and Ward post holder will ensure high levels of patient and clinician satisfaction by being an accessible, customer focussed and knowledgeable point of Duties and Responsibilitiesprepare for patient admissions, introduce patient to ward/ clinics , support clinics, reception duties, patient record management, ordering of stock .Schedule appointments with the most appropriate all medical notes, referral letters, results and discharge summaries are available for outpatient appointments and Trust systems are updated with patient pathway status information and that data quality is that Trust agreed standard of service is delivered to patientsEnsure details of patients to be admitted are entered onto systems, recording accurate pre-operative assessment appointments with the agreed that appropriate tests and investigations are arranged and completed, with results available before surgery ( COVID, MRSA, Bloods, Urine, Scans or results on Trust system such as ICE).In line with departmental protocols, communicate basic clinical information to patients relating to their procedures and treatments, ensuring appropriate distribution of patient Trust IT systems and speciality databases to ensure relevant and accurate information is recorded.Undertake general typing duties references and medical that all of the relevant documents are uploaded on NoteOn.Provide cross cover within private care

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to level with grades A-C in Mathematics, English and ICT or equivalent Strong IT skills in relation to Microsoft packages including word/excel and Microsoft to NVQ level 3 or RSA III or equivalent experience.
