Recruitment Analyst - Cobham, Surrey

DEPARTMENT: Recruitment

JOB FUNCTION: Generate actionable player analysis and insights to inform support the scouting process and inform recruitment decisions.

LOCATION: Cobham

CONTRACT: Permanent - 40 Hours a week across 5 of 7 working days

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES (Play Your Part):

Player Assessment

  • Source, interrogate and analyse a variety of internal data sources to generate accurate actionable player insights to inform decision-making.
  • Utilise visualisation tools to tell stories through data and create impactful presentations of data insights.
  • Work with the Chelsea data team to gather insights on internal and external players for the purpose of benchmarking the CFC-level.
  • Present and interject player insights into meetings to prompt high-quality debate and to ’check and challenge’ beliefs.
  • Produce data driven reports on key Chelsea targets.

Recruitment Operations

  • Drive the use of data within youth recruitment at Chelsea FC and support the upskilling of the scouting and recruitment teams in their effective use of data.
  • Support dossier production on target players, including the provision of data insights
  • Track, monitor and support scouts in completing reports on the scouting database, ensuring data quality standards.
  • Create ‘headline’ reports and provide weekly updates for senior recruitment staff.
  • Oversee the tracking of scout performance metrics.
  • Support ongoing refinements to scout reporting processes, and back-office systems
  • Prepare and develop presentations for youth scout meetings and conferences.
  • Undertake other projects as required by the Recruitment Team.

Role-Specific:

  • Integration of accurate and actionable player insights into the recruitment decision-making process, notably match performance data.
  • Creation of comprehensive, multidisciplinary player profiles across multiple objective and subjective data sources.
  • Accurate benchmarking of the CFC level as a basis for talent identification.
  • Continued refinement of National and Local reporting processes.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION:

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Undergraduate degree (minimum 2:1 classification) in Sports Science/Analysis, Economics, Computer Science/a related data discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Valid Passport and driving licence.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification in Talent ID, Sports Science, Performance Analysis-related fields, or an equivalent technical qualification.
  • FA Level 1 Talent ID Qualification or UEFA B Coaching Licence.
  • Experience delivering information to a broad spectrum of stakeholders

Experience:

Essential

  • Highly computer literate (incl. MS Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn to use in-house systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to create presentations and deliver visuals that tell a story with information.
  • Literate in common football terminology
  • Working within a team effectively

Desirable

  • Experience with Business Intelligence and Data Visualisation software, eg. Power BI, Tableau.
  • Experience with video editing software
  • Coding and programming skills, eg. Python, R, SQL.
  • Knowledge of the football market, the role of a scout and an understanding of football recruitment.
