The three positions are based in various Fife locations, with the successful candidates being responsible for collecting rent arrears in a specific area within one of the 7 Fife Localities. There is an expectation you will travel to your given area regularly to liaise with colleagues and meet tenants in their homes and in the local office environment.

Responsibilities include:

• The collection of rent and maximisation of income by means of communication with tenants and liaising with our colleagues in the Housing Benefit Assessment Team, Housing Area Teams, and our Third Sector Partners. You will be working closely with our colleagues in the Housing Service in a joined-up approach maximise tenancy sustainment and the collection of rent arrears
• Engaging with customers in their homes or Fife Council offices to discuss and negotiate repayment of rent arrears and other monies owing to Fife Council. Ensuring that correct decisions are made when taking recovery action and initiating legal proceedings
• Implement legislation, guidance, and procedures to correctly assess the tenants financial circumstances which will maximise income for both Fife Council and our tenants. Ensure all payments of rent are received, and any arrears and/or overpayments are managed appropriately.
• Taking a proactive approach to managing workloads and engaging with our customers, including home visits and office interviews. Ensuring a high level of accuracy and that timescales are met.
 
The Person

A good working knowledge of DWP Benefits and rents would be advantageous along with experience of working with the public would be beneficial. You should also possess a high standard of communication skills and be a confident in IT applications, displaying the ability to use various packages effectively.
Educated to SCQF level 6, which includes Highers or SVQ level 3 or equivalent in a financial/customer service background
