An exciting opportunity has arisento offer a Specialist Nursing role working within the children & young peoples teamin Worcestershire alongside our Childrens Community Nursing (Orchard) serviceand Special School Nursing service. You will initially support and develop thesetting up of a Community Paediatric Epilepsy Specialist Nursing serviceworking closely with the LD Adult team who manage patients with a range ofcomplex epilepsies and learning related disabilities. You will strengthenclinical and professional leadership in epilepsy care, working in an integratedway to complement the roles of clinical colleagues; contributing to continuity ofcare for children and young people with epilepsy who are under the care of anamed community paediatrician and attend a special school in Worcestershire.
This permanent role is for 30hours per week.
Main duties of the job
To fulfil this specialist role youwill provide visible and high-quality, professional leadership and expertclinical practice.
Reporting directly to the ClinicalLead for Childrens Nursing, you will spend a minimum of 50% of your workinghours in clinical practice, working with children and young people withepilepsy, their family and carers, communities, statutory and voluntaryagencies.
This role requires effectivewritten and verbal communication skills to communicate complex information toprofessionals, patients and their families.Empathy, compassion and emotional support will need to be given whenhandling difficult conversations and situations.
The post holder will ensure theintegrity and quality of the offer to children and young people is maintainedthrough an annual audit of the epilepsy service; Trust and ICB initiatives areinterpreted and applied to the service.
The successful candidate will be aRegistered Childrens Nurse with current NMC registration; have undertaken PaediatricEpilepsy Training Course PET1,2,3 (or be willing to undertake within 12months); Independent non-medical prescriber V300 (or commitment to undertakewithin 1 year of starting in post); relevant neurological experience in aposition of responsibility (Band 6) and be able to evidence working withchildren and young people with epilepsy.

Job description
Job responsibilities
You will have clinical responsibilityfor a group of patients in a defined caseload, liaising and acting as aspecialist resource, providing enhanced health and quality of life outcomes forchildren and young people with epilepsy by education and teaching sessions topromote the understanding of people with epilepsy. Working with the leadclinician(s) to promote and develop clinical innovations in the specialist areain line with local and national guidelines. Linking with other nursespecialists within the epilepsy field to ensure continuity of practice and care;working directly with adult specialist and non-specialist services to facilitatethe transition of young people to adult services.

Registered Childrens Nurse with current NMC registration Degree Paediatric Epilepsy Training Course (PET 1,2,3) or willing to undertake within 12 months.
