The Vacancy

We are looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join the Software Development team at De La Rue. This is a hands-on testing position. You will need to use your knowledge of testing methods and strategies to guide colleagues. You will collaborate with testers and developers across the software development team to ensure we use adequate and effective tests. We want you to become the trusted adviser to co-workers on how testing should be done, underwriting our customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will participate in multi-disciplinary, Agile teams working together to create digital solutions
  • Driving performance testing to be part of the development process by implementing frameworks relevant to the business needs and skills of the test team
  • Pro-active in seeking to make continuous improvements to automation, test coverage and execution
  • Support the Test and Quality Manager in achieving their strategic goals by providing technical support to the software development team
  • Taking ownership of the testing strategy
  • Ensuring the test team are following best testing practices
  • Advocating quality throughout the development process and making recommendations for improvements
  • Maintain, execute, and report on testing non-functional requirements such as performance, load, and accessibility
  • Mentor, collaborate and improve the test team

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in performance testing with a solid understanding of concepts such as peak load testing, soak testing, stress testing, scalability and the importance of volume and concurrency when defining tests.
  • Experience with Playwright, TestCafe or Cypress.io with TypeScript/JavaScript
  • Strong understanding of agile methods of software delivery and the principles and practices of Behavior Driven development (BDD)
  • Experience testing REST APIs and message-based systems. Familiar with Postman/Swagger
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD tools, DevOps and GIT
  • Experience of shift-left and shift-right testing strategies
  • Knowledge of different test layers such as unit, integration, and integrated tests
  • Experience with defining and implementing best testing practises 
  • Experience with non-functional testing techniques and approaches
  • Experience with using test doubles such as Wiremock, moq, React testing library is desirable
  • Experience with Angular and React testing frameworks is desirable
  • Knowledge of contract testing is desirable
