Legal Counsel - Litigation - ARD992308 - Hybrid - Home based/London

Purpose of the Role

This exciting new litigation Legal Counsel opportunity has arisen to join our team to provide expert and strategic legal counsel to the senior leadership of the Ardonagh Advisory segment and the broking and MGA businesses more generally on Errors and Omissions claims (E&O) and commercial disputes.

This role will be to minimise and appropriately manage legal risk and reputational damage to the business.

What you will do

This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your Line Manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following and more:

Assist on and provide timely legal counsel on a wide range of legal / business issues with a particular focus on E&O defence across broking and MGA business teams in the SME and niche consumer insurance product areas. Advise the business and senior leadership team on E&O exposures, including the provision of training, monitoring, advising on, managing and resolving notified E&O matters and identifying E&O trends and risk improvement measures. Identify, research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations and offer proactive advice on associated legal issues. Manage and supervise external legal counsel as required and control and minimise external legal spend. Report to the Senior Legal Counsel who leads on E&Os and litigation across the Ardonagh Advisory business segment. Participating in the Ardonagh-wide Litigation Cross-Platform working group.

Who we are looking for

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified solicitor with at least 4 years PQE. We are looking for someone who has:

Expertise in insurance law and insurance coverage disputes. Ideally, additional experience in dealing with E&O claims against insurance brokers and/or other insurance professionals.

This is an opportunity for a subject matter expert with strong interpersonal skills, as you will need to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You will be technically knowledgeable and able to communicate clearly and effectively, demonstrating your ability to create legal defences and proactive strategies. Sound judgement, analytical skills and the ability to absorb and react to information quickly whilst adopting a hands-on can-do attitude are vital.

It is a small team so teamwork is crucial but so is your ability to work autonomously as required. There is an expectation to attend the London office once a week (day to vary each week according to business needs) for team and business meetings, with other days working remotely.
