Job summary

This post of Quantitative Analyst and Data Coordinator will join the Policy & International Health, WHO CC (PIH WHO CC) and its Public Health Economics and Value Team in Public Health Wales responsible for delivering innovative platforms, research and tools supporting population health, well-being and equity. This role will help deliver success in relation to broader harms, and data and intelligence. It will contribute to the development of a central resource in Public Health Wales that can examine health investment in Wales from a (social) return on investment (S/ROI) perspective (health, social, economic and environmental), using existing data or undertaking primary research, allowing understanding of the return on investments and model out scenarios or return based on different future investment scenarios and policy return, we offer great benefits including hybrid and flexible working, a fantastic NHS pension, excellent annual leave, cycle to work and car lease schemes, childcare voucher schemes, plus many more.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this role are as follows:

Supporting the progression of a newly combined Health Economics and Social Value Unit within the PIH WHO CC Providing essential capacity, being skilled in specific data extraction, critical appraisal and quality assessment of SROI/ROI research papers to populate and expand a unique Social Value Database and Simulator for public health Providing necessary quantitative and data gathering, collation and analysis support to progress COVID-19 related health economics and modelling work, as well as expand to other priority areas Strengthening capacity to develop innovative data visualisation and advocacy products. Able to synthesis a variety of evidence using qualitative and/or quantitative data collection methods.

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to degree level or equivalent in a mathematical, statistical, health economics, computer-science or similar discipline

Desirable

A Masters degree in relevant discipline or equivalent

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

Experience of verbal and written communicating complex information including writing academic publications A proven track-record of data management and the management of projects delivering against targets Understanding of health economics and economic evaluation methodology Knowledge and experience of manipulating large and complex datasets Experience in conducting analysis in a field related to public health, and understanding the application of different types of data

Desirable

Understanding of health economics and economic evaluation methodology Knowledge of social return on investment methodology and return on investment methodology

Skills & Abilities

Essential

Advanced IT skills with experience of using Microsoft Office applications - and particularly advanced MS Excel knowledge. Statistical analysis of complex information, using software packages such as Minitab, STATA or SPSS.
