Band 5 Rotational Occupational Therapist

Bristol, United Kingdom University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) Full time

Job summary

Are you looking for your first role as a qualified Occupational Therapist? Look no further UHBW is a large trust in the West of England where your career can get off to a great start. We support our new Band 5's through the preceptorship programme, peer support meetings and in-service training. Feedback from one of our existing B5 OTs: "This rotation has allowed me to grow in confidence and build my self esteem in the acute setting".

You will rotate approximately every 6 months, so that you can develop your clinical skills in a range of areas: our rotation entails a diverse range of settings, including working in the Emergency Department, ITU and the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC). We also have a rotation within the Weston SSARU and at NBT's Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit so that you can experience stroke services.

The Adult Therapy Service at UHBW is integrated, so you will work closely alongside physios and other therapists on the ward. We have well-established teaching plans, supervision structures and, most importantly, cake rotas

We would be delighted to hear from a range of applicants from different backgrounds or with additional needs. If you would prefer to talk through this role rather than read about it, or would like to discuss any adjustments to make it easier for you to apply or attend an interview, please feel free to call me on the number below.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will contribute to the provision of a comprehensive, integrated and efficient therapeutic service for patients referred for Occupational Therapy (OT). Staff will rotate approximately every six months to different clinical sites and areas across the Trust. Each rotation will have clear learning objectives. On some rotations Band 5 OTs will be required to supervise non-registered staff. The post holder will be responsible for a separate and designated caseload. The post holder will take an active part in their own development and will seek help and advice accordingly. Band 5 staff will work alongside non-registered staff and may delegate some activities. The post holder will be supported by a Band 6 / 7 throughout the rotation. The post holder will be required to work shifts including weekends and to participate in the bank holiday rota.
