Role Purpose:

The position is for Senior FI Underwriter within Financial Lines in the London Branch. The role will have both personal and collective responsibility for the growth and profitability of the FI portfolio; writing under both company and syndicate platforms. The position involves the underwriting of new business and key renewals in line with FI appetites as well as developing London brokers.

Key Responsibilities:

Working closely with Financial Institutions Manager to drive development opportunities, including devising strategies to achieve depth and breadth penetration of the market in FI. Developing close working relationships with key brokers with tenacity / skill in pursuing target new business accounts.  Driving the marketing and development plan for FI - engaging in strategy, product and marketing to consolidate and build from a solid, sustainable and profitable book of business. Delivering a profit to financial institutions - implementing an underwriting and marketing strategy that matches our products and appetite to the local market. Leading by example and collaborating with colleagues in other departments, to best promote the Chubb franchise, this will include cross lines relationship management of designated brokers; the drafting and follow up of plans; and appropriate incentive arrangements. The position will be judged primarily on profitability. This being achieved by execution of rate and underwriting strategy, risk selection and focused growth. It also requires strong focus so that the individual establishes and executes business plans to maximise business opportunities with brokers Building and maintaining a strong external reputation. Behaving in a manner consistent with Chubb’s core values and culture both internally and externally In depth knowledge & experience of Financial Institutions underwriting as well as experience dealing directly with clients on complex matters.  Possesses a good market reputation as a technical expert and is proactive in identifying opportunities and taking initiatives to support our business goals. Excellent communicator with strong influencing and negotiation skills both written and verbally. They must have the ability to build solid business relationships with brokers and customers and demonstrate general analytical and financial analysis skills. They must also have the ability to balance their workload whilst maximising key opportunities accordingly. Proficiency in both sales and marketing as well being a pro-active self-starter who is confident to make decisions, both independently and in collaboration with colleagues and / or managers and to refer to colleagues when required.  Self-motivated team player, with a ‘can-do’ attitude, who co-ordinates across departments and lines of business including Claims Competent with wording drafting and engaging with large complex FI clients. Able to support the development and training of the wider FI team through coaching and support in the development of formal training. 5+ GCSEs or alternative professional accreditation (such as CII)
