Job overview

We have an opportunity for a trainee or experienced band 6 MR radiographer to join our team based at Ipswich hospital.

You will possess interest in or specialised knowledge in a wide range of MR imaging procedures including MSK, neurological, paediatrics and oncology. You will be required to work your shifts over seven days and participate with spinal on call service. 

The MR department is situated over multiple local sites and is equipped with GE scanners and Philips scanners. It provides general MRI services plus specialist Cardiac MRI and Radiotherapy Planning services.

You must be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, effective communication and adaptability to meet the challenges encountered in the MRI environment. You will also need to be flexible and patient focused have a high level of professionalism and technical standard of work applying with codes of practice.

This post is full time hours per week, however we would consider part time, with a minimum of 25 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

Undertake all MRI procedures to a high standard, ensuring optimum patient care and in compliance with safety regulations to include health and safety, quench policy, fire and cardiac arrest policies in a strong magnetic field. Perform verbal and written MRI safety checks on patients, visitors and hospital staff to ensure that no hazardous materials enter the scanning room. Responsible for the physiological monitoring of sedated adults and children undergoing MRI procedures

Experience

Essential criteria

Wide range of experience in all facets of radiography Proven post graduate experience of MRI scanning. Proven post graduate experience equivalent to post graduate level of education Experience of multi-disciplinary staff supervision Current, good working knowledge of all aspects of MR imaging and sub-specialist areas such MR Angiography, Paediatrics, Trauma and multi parametric imaging Staff training including staff/ student mentoring and supervision Deputising for area leads in their absence Current experience of out of hours working Ability to demonstrate a good level of competence and understanding of a range of MRI scan procedures

Desirable criteria

Experience of Cardiac MR Imaging Evidence of post graduate training such as experience or certification in a specific modality, management or supervisory role, involvement with working groups , Health & Safety, equipment installation, change management supervision & mentoring of staff and students. Trained to undertake PDR reviews

Qualifications

Essential criteria

BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent HPC registered radiographer (mandatory CPD portfolio of evidence supporting registration)

Desirable criteria

Radiation Protection Supervisor certificate Evidence of post graduate training experience or certification in a specific modality or management / supervision role Cannulation qualification or experience
