Job summary
We have a post available for an experienced Medical Receptionist to work in a friendly but busy merged practice in Winlaton and Ryton. The post is for 21 hours per week mainly at our surgery in Ryton but you will be required to be flexible and work from either site. Hollyhurst surgery and Elvaston surgery are about a 10 minute drive apart. The successful candidate will need to be available to cover overtime, sickness and holidays and will need to be available to start from and finish at 7pm on some occasions. They will need to have excellent communication and customer service skills and be able to coordinate and organize appointments and documentation to facilitate the smooth running of the healthcare environment and support delivery of quality patient care.
Main duties of the job
The job role itself will include greeting patients, registering new patients according to established protocols, ensure patient information is accurate, maintain and manage patient records, answer incoming calls and deal with inquiries, transfer calls as required, schedule patient appointments, report statistics as required, respond and comply to requests for information, deal with incoming and outgoing post, document management , coding and handling, complete other clerical duties as assigned, ensure reception area is well maintained, neat and clean, safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality.
About us
We are a merged practice across 2 sites with an approximate patient list size of 4650. We are a friendly team who work together well consisting of GP's, Practice Nurse, Health Care Assistant and admin/reception team. We also have additional role staff consisting of a Pharmacist, Care Coordinator, First Contact Physio and Mental Health Worker.

To ensure success, you should be a confident and professional administrator with fantastic communication and interpersonal skills that will contribute to the efficient day-to-day administration of the healthcare facility. You will work comfortably under pressure while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment and can effectively react to patient emergencies. You will need to have excellent organisational and administrative skills. Medical Receptionists are expected to be compassionate and discrete with superb time management and record keeping skills.

Experience
Essential
Previous experience working within general practice or other healthcare facility is essential as is knowledge of medical terminology. Excellent documentation, communication and IT skills along with knowledge of EMIS Web is also essential. A valid UK drivers licence is also desirable as you may be required to travel between sites.
