We have an incredibly exciting opportunity here to join us as Head of Financial Control The role is to lead the Financial Control Team providing leadership and supporting the Assistant Director of Finance in delivering effective financial controls and meeting all reporting requirements. Working closely with the team to create efficiencies for value adding activities which are linked to the strategic objectives of the business and ensure financial operations, processes and procedures are efficient and effective and support the wider business operations.   

We own and manage c.7,500 homes in the east of England, working closely with other agencies and stakeholders within our communities. We build on the good foundations we have in place in being a customer-centric organisation, investing in our existing homes - including our zero-carbon journey - as well as building new homes.

Requirements

Outline of Key Responsibilities...

  • Deputise for Assistant Director of Finance as required working closely with Head of Procurement and Head of Business Support 
  • Lead the business planning process conducting stress tests, multivariate scenarios and developing mitigations
  • Responsible for the submission of regulatory, compliance and statutory returns including the FFR, FVA, QFR, Trustees Report, ONS Acquisitions & Disposals Return, VAT, yearend and quarterly Nroshh returns to the regulator (RSH)
  • Complete the Value for Money metrics working closely with the Head of Business Performance and Risk. 
  • Responsible for preparation of Financial Statements for the Group, Parent and its Subsidiaries. 
  • Overseeing the Treasury function including reporting of covenant compliance 
  • Oversee tax accounting including VAT and Corporation Tax 
  • Overseeing Asset Securitisation (Property Charging)  
  • Overseeing the stock valuation and annual revaluation 
  • Oversee Component Accounting and Fixed Asset Register (FAR) including management of FAR system (Asset 4000)
  • Monitor, prepare and manage the finance systems budget, interest budget and SOFP/cash flow forecasts for the annual and monthly rolling forecast process
  • Finance team lead for processes and procedures, including documentation and annual review 
  • Be the finance lead for all finance systems, working collaboratively across the finance team to ensure that all business requirements are met and that process efficiencies can be realised as well as realising development opportunities 
  • Line management responsibility for Financial Accountant and Payments Team Leader

  • Qualified accountant with significant post qualification experience
  • Business planning, treasury management, VAT returns and financial statement production and review experience
  • Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders presenting information which is clear and concise
  • Excellent presentation skills for showing detailed financial information to senior management and board members.
  • Experience of leading a wide ranging team
  • Project implementation and managing through user acceptance testing
  • Passionate about working with systems and finding efficient ways of working
