What will I be doing?
*This role location is based in Kenya, supporting East Africa*

The role of Field Technician is to be fully autonomous in carrying out level 1 to 3 Maintenance activities on Safran Helicopter Engines (SHE UK). Working offsite at customers' premises to high Quality standards whilst achieving a high customer satisfaction. Enhancing the customer experience by providing a proximity service in East Africa.

1. This role requires the Field Technician to be based in East Africa.

2. Provide onsite support to Tanzania Peoples Defence Force (TPDF) as per the requirements of the Agreement between SHE UK and the TPDF.

3. Provide on-site maintenance support, maintenance to TPDF or other customer as required.

4. Prepare for the Maintenance activity to be performed at the customers' premises. Review the requirements as per the customer Purchase Order. Where applicable review the engine logbook data to identify additional work to be done or Service Bulletin to be applied. Open a workpack and prepare paperwork in advance according to quality standard.

5. Prepare tools for shipment to the customer location where the maintenance task will be performed and liaise with the freight forwarder for collection. Prepare tools for return at the customer facility.

6. When applicable, obtain travel security authorisation in line with SAFRAN risk countries prior to booking off-site travel abroad and make arrangement for travel as per the travel policy.

7. On arrival at the customer premises carry out accurate assessment on the condition of the engine to confirm the work scope required to return the engine to a serviceable state, liaising with the Safran HE Technical Support Representative and Service Engineer as required.

8. Carry out the maintenance activities on the Engine or Module in accordance with the Safran HE maintenance documentation, policies and procedures.

9. Maintain all the technical documentation throughout the intervention.

10. Carry out and certify all relevant recording, reporting and release documentation associated with any work carried out to standards defined in Safran HE maintenance documentation.

11. Carry out secondary duties as defined by the Field Technician Team Leader.

12. Assist the Field Representative for East Africa and TPDF with onsite trouble shooting, data collection and general customer visits to assist in any on-going technical matters.

13. Be a representative for SHE UK in East Africa, providing market feedback, identifying opportunities and supporting business growth in the market.
14. Work in accordance with Company Operating Systems, policies and procedures.
15. Carry out regular checks of standard and special tools and consumable products to ensure they are available and suitable for use and identify tools that needs to be calibrated or consumables, which needs to be procured and highlight this.
16. Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes, working practices and take responsibility for implementation.

Job Requirements

What do you need from me?
Qualification/Training
• Aircraft Mechanic Apprenticeship
• Gas Turbine Engine Knowledge
• Kenyan Civil Aviation Authority regulation certification
• SHE Engine qualification (Arriel, Makila) - Desirable
• European Aviation Safety Authority certification - Desirable

Competencies
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrate fluency in English
• Good Team Player
• Self-motivated and able to work under pressure to exacting standards and practices
• Good analytical skills
• Be flexible with regards to working and training routines as directed
• Exhibit an ability to work unsupervised and operate to stringent timescales and targets

Experience
• Demonstrable working experience within the Aerospace Environment
• Able to deal with internal and external customers on a technical level
• Self-motivated and continually looking to improve standards and practices
• Conducting Borescope inspections of Gas turbine engines
• Be able to use on a daily basis technical documentation
