Retail Store Manager

The Store Manager of our Barham store will be responsible for the effective operating, running and budgeting of the Retail and Trade departments of the store. They will balance their time between thinking on their feet to solve in-store problems, and planning/strategizing the best way to lead their team and store. With effective leadership and people management, they will develop an exceptional customer centric culture, empowering their team to deliver great experiences, make sales and hit KPIs and working collaboratively within the broader Petstock / Mitre 10 community.

Responsibilities:

Run the Store:

Drive a culture that is laser focused on amazing customer service

Manage stock control including ordering, stock transfers to and from the store, stock takes etc. Complete merchandising as required.

Assist customers with escalated enquiries, providing a great experience every time

Work collaboratively with multi-function teams and other store managers

Grow the Store:

Connect with and build relationships with builders, suppliers, stakeholders and your local community to drive and maintain business in the area

Drive the retail business, sales and profit margins, contributing to the overall running and success of the business.

Host in-store community and marketing events/activities

Manage the Team:

Recruit, onboard and mentor staff as required

Lead and motivate the team to achieve commercial targets, providing training and development when needed

Identify where your people shine and ensure they're in the right roles

Ensure alignment with roster requirements. Manage store rosters aligned with sales volumes and team members leave.

Manage, coordinate and approve leave applications for team members, ensuring sufficient staff availability at all times

You will have:

The successful candidate must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Hardware Retail Industry & Building supplies industry.

In addition, the successful applicant will need to have:

Experience in a store/assistant store manager role. Ability to recruit and motivate a team. You will be open to change and have a strong ability to lead others effectively through change Sales focused and goal-driven Displays excellent interpersonal, communication and mentoring skills. A passion for creating a fantastic customer experience. Experience in managing the performance, training and development of a team is an advantage, but training and support will always be provided. A forklift and MR license is desirable.
