Job Overview:
NSS is looking for an experienced and skilled Surveyor to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the successful surveying of various roofing disciplines, contributing to the accurate planning and execution of roofing projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in roofing systems, be confident in measuring complex roof structures, and have experience working with different machinery and access equipment. This position requires flexibility, as the role involves significant travel and occasional overnight stays. Additionally, the Surveyor will work closely with different departments within the business such as Sales, Estimating, and Helpdesk to ensure projects run smoothly from start to finish.

Your job will include:
Surveying Multiple Roofing Disciplines:The Surveyor will be responsible for conducting comprehensive surveys across various roofing systems, including flat roofs, pitched roofs, and more complex or specialist roofing disciplines. You must be comfortable diagnosing roofing issues and assessing roof conditions for repair, maintenance, or replacement. Measuring Complex Roof Structures:
You must have the capability and confidence to measure and assess various roof structures and materials, including complex roof sheets, ensuring all measurements are precise for accurate project planning and estimations. Travel and Flexibility:
This role involves significant travel to different sites across the region, and in some cases, it will require overnight stays to meet the needs of specific projects. A flexible approach to working hours and locations is essential. Machinery and Access Equipment Knowledge:
A strong understanding of the machinery and access equipment required for roofing work is necessary. This includes, but is not limited to, scaffold towers, MEWPs (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms), and other specialist tools. You should be able to assess what equipment is necessary for surveys and ensure that they are used safely and efficiently on-site. Collaboration with Different Departments:
The Surveyor will work closely with various departments, such as Sales, Estimating, and Helpdesk. Regular communication with these teams will ensure that all required information is gathered and conveyed accurately for project planning and customer support. This collaboration is key to making sure estimations are precise, and all stakeholders are informed. Report Writing and Documentation:
Strong written skills are essential for this role. The Surveyor will be responsible for producing detailed and accurate reports based on surveys. These reports must include all relevant information, such as measurements, condition assessments, safety concerns, and recommendations. Familiarity with digital reporting systems (such as I-Auditor) is desirable. Health & Safety Compliance:
All surveys must be conducted in compliance with relevant Health & Safety regulations. The Surveyor will need to identify and report any risks or hazards on-site and ensure that all operatives are aware of and comply with safety protocols. A strong understanding of safety regulations in the roofing or construction industry is crucial.
You are good at:
Extensive experience in surveying multiple roofing disciplines, including flat roofs, pitched roofs, and complex roof structures. Confidence and accuracy in measuring roof sheets and assessing roofing systems. Strong understanding of access equipment and machinery required for roofing surveys. Good written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and comprehensive reports. Comfortable working collaboratively with different departments such as Sales, Estimating, and Helpdesk to ensure a smooth workflow. Full, clean driving license and willingness to travel extensively, with the flexibility to stay away when required. Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations in the roofing or construction industry. IT literacy, with experience using reporting software like I-Auditor or similar platforms.Benefits:
