Engineering Technician

GSK’s Ware Site is a key manufacturing center for GSK, manufacturing medicines and supplying globally. We are looking for an Engineering Technician to join our Filling / Micronising team to provide engineering expertise to support production activities.

The Filling & Micronising department sits within the Respiratory Supply Chain (RSC) at the Ware manufacturing site and is responsible for performing a variety of tasks relating to manufacture of GSK’s respiratory products.
 

Engineering Technicians work in a team (managed by a shift Engineer) to support the highly skilled and diverse teams across production, quality, and technical functions at the site. Engineering Technicians conduct a wide range of engineering activities including maintenance, calibrations, physical interventions, problem solving and repair activities.

Engineering Technician tasks include:

• Calibration of critical process and utility equipment.

• Fault finding, problem solving and breakdown resolution.

• Maintenance activities within Filling and Micronising, including utilities equipment in Micronising.

• Routine testing of HVAC systems including air quality.

• Continuous improvement (CI activities) of production and utilities equipment and processes

• Completion of statutory inspections e.g., ATEX, zero access, LOTO.

• Liaising with cross functional teams Quality, Validation Site operations.

• You may also be involved with project work (including commissioning and installing new equipment).

Shift Patterns:  

RSC filling - shift role operates on “24/5 - DANF”: 12 - hour, 3 - week rotating shift pattern. These shifts work circa 06:45 to 19:00 (Days) and 18:45 to 07:00 (Nights).

RSC Micronising - shift role operates on “16/5 - Double days”: 8 – hour shift, 2-week rotating pattern. These shifts work circa 06:00 to 14:00 (Earlies) and 13:45 to 21:45 (Nights).

About You:

Relevant engineering qualifications and / or experience is required (Engineering Apprenticeship in Mechanical, Electrical, Calibration or Instrumentation subjects is preferred, HNC, HND, ENG tech status). A good standard of numeracy and literacy is essential.

You will be a willing learner and a good communicator who takes personal accountability, ownership, and action to do the right thing. Good verbal, written and computer communication skills are needed, and you must be able to work within a team and follow standard processes.

We are particularly interested in applicants with hands-on experience in the following areas:

Calibration

Automation (the site standard is Siemens / Rockwell)

Electrical

Mechanical

Pneumatics

Instrumentation

Process control

Hydraulic systems

Chiller systems

About Ware Site:

Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form. The site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company’s pipeline, many of which are life-saving medicines.

Basic Qualifications:

Relevant qualifications and experience (e.g. Engineering Apprenticeship . An HNC / HND Level qualification).

Applicants without an HNC level qualification need to have EngTech status and have completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
