Maintenance Technician

Mission
Your RoleIn the Farm Maintenance Technician role, you will be responsible for an extensive range of work in general maintenance and repairs in live animal, farm environments. Reporting to the Layers Operations Manager, you will work within established procedures to complete preventative maintenance and routine duties concerning all farms machines and equipment.
This role is expected to have a work schedule of 7AM - 4PM - however some flexibility is required. Local travel to Cambridge, St. George and Branchton farms is required (close by to one another).
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot ventilation, heating, and air conditioning units Report of mechanical malfunctions to Layers Farm Managers and third parties if/when applicable Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies including spare parts Respond to building & equipment alarms as needed (some on call duties may be required) Misc. general maintenance tasks as required (light bulbs, paint, exterior building checks, barn tear downs, etc.) Additional duties as assigned by the Farm and Operations Managers Following all Biosecurity, Animal Welfare and Safety policies and procedures
Profile
Your Profile
Extensive working knowledge of mechanical and building systems Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in maintenance roles, preferably within a manufacturing or live animal environment A technical certification or trade preferred but not required Experience working with hand and power tools Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc. Proactive approach to maintenance, self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision Valid driver’s license Ability to plan and organize maintenance schedules, and prioritize tasks Travel as required to local farms (Cambridge), flexible work schedule (and availability to work some weekends) Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with people at all levelsAble to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with third party vendors/suppliers
Communicating efficiently in both verbal and written form will be necessary to complete work requirements Basic computer and record keeping skills
