We're delighted to present a great opportunity to join our successful AXA Commercial business, as Branch Manager, overseeing Birmingham, Reading and Southampton.

As Branch Manager you'll lead the localised deployment of the Commercial Lines strategy and delivery of profitable growth by focussing on Distribution and Service Capability, Customer Service Excellence, Underwriting Strategy and Broker Development. You'll be responsible for all customers and brokers in the regions, promoting and distributing our AXA propositions including Mid-Market, Mid-Corporate, SME, Schemes, Motor Trade and Financial Lines business.

The regions benefit from having an experienced and established leadership team, with a proven track record of delivering excellent results. The Underwriting teams range from experienced and empowered underwriters to apprentice level new starters, allowing for development and robust succession planning across the region. Working collaboratively across wider the Branch network and Specialist Lines Trading Centres, you'll execute business plans by managing resources and processes so that a high quality, efficient and compliant service is provided to our brokers and business.

What you'll be doing:

Accountable for all business traded through the Branch brokers, including profitability, sales and servicing of business managed in Branch and business serviced through specialist centres. Oversee all broker engagement to optimise sales decisions and broker experience for Mid-Market and Mid Corporate, SME, Schemes, Motor Trade and Financial Lines business. Lead, motivate and develop the management team across the Branch office to deliver market leading sales and service through the operational, underwriting and sales functions. Create an open and honest culture across the Branches which drives engagement, development and supports Branch and Commercial Lines strategy to meet key KPI's. Build, manage and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, including all key customers and networks to deliver strategy and increase business opportunities for the Branch and Specialist Lines Centres. Develop, lead and deliver local strategies, to align with overall AXA Commercial Lines strategy, to include setting challenging targets and monitoring performance against targets, costs and budget. Maximise profitability by driving underwriting strategy with support from Branch and Specialist Lines Centre Underwriting Managers and the Technical Centre team, maximising use of trading flexibility, full empowerment, and adherence to underwriting protocols and regulatory requirements. With support from the Regional Operations Manager, increase operational discipline across the Branch offices to deliver a joined-up experience for brokers, removing complexity for our employees and brokers and focusing efforts on work that drives excellent customer service and simplicity. Accountable for ensuring that the Branch compliant with all regulatory and legislative requirements including compliance with internal governance and control.

You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, either at one of our office locations in Birmingham, Southampton or Reading , visiting clients or attending industry events.

What we’re looking for:

Previous experience of working at a senior level within a commercial insurance environment. Sound understanding of insurance market and processes essential. Innovative and dynamic leader with focus on strategic direction and delivery. Proven track record of managing a profitable P&L within the intermediary channel, achieving ambitious revenue and GWP objectives, whilst maintaining profitability. Excellent relationship management and influencing skills, with experience of building successful long-term relationships both internal and external. Ability to create and maintain an open and honest culture which drives engagement, development, and opportunity for all employees. People and resource management skills, in inspiring and motivating high performing teams. Lead and manage change successfully in an environment where navigating complex and abstract challenges and problem solving are commonplace. Exceptional service ethos and proven track record in improving standards / customer service. Long and short-term planning and analytical skills with proven experience of both operational & strategic planning.

This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
