We are currently looking for an experienced band 7 ADOS trained SLT with a passion for working with children with Social Communication Difficulties (SCD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as part of a friendly, experienced and knowledgeable multi-disciplinary team of professionals.

You will have a key role in the assessment of ASD in pre-school children working alongside Paediatricians and other members of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) within the Cheyne Child Development Services based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Parkview Centre for Health and Wellbeing and at Woodfield Child Development Service based at the Medical Centre, Woodfield Road. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced clinicians wanting to continue to develop their expertise and interest in working within Child Development Services.

Main duties of the job

You will also be joining a progressive, collaborative and innovative Early Years Speech and Language Therapy team delivering a service to the Boroughs of Westminster, Hammersmith and Fulham and Kensington and Chelsea. The post holder will be required to assist senior colleagues as and when necessary, in tasks related to audit, service development and supervision.

We are currently looking for:

An enthusiastic and dynamic SLT who has over 4 years experience in working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and a range of complex needs. Experience of working in collaboration with members of the MDT team in order to support the needs of children and young people with ASD Autism Diagnostic Observations Schedule (ADOS) training and experience in using the ADOS assessment tool to support diagnosis in the pre-school and school aged population is essential. Knowledge and skills in providing high quality evidenced based therapeutic approaches and models relevant to this client group SCERTS, Hanen More than Words programme. A commitment to reflective learning and strong team working skills are essential. Job description

Job responsibilities

To conduct highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessments to support the differential diagnosis of broad range of complex neuro-developmental conditions. This will involve assessment and differential diagnosis of children with probable comorbidities and differing social and educational contexts. To assess, develop and implement highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy programmes of care to meet the needs of clients, in collaboration with other professionals adapting practice to meet individual patients circumstances. To write comprehensive reports to be shared with families and a range of professionals, reflecting specialist knowledge including initial assessment/review reports, EHCNA, Annual Reviews and Tribunal reports. To provide advice and support to others regarding the management and care of children and young people with social communication differences and SLCN.

Person Specification

Education/Qualification

Essential

Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree or equivalent and Licence to Practise by the Health Care Professionals Council and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists Current registered membership of HCPC and RCSLT Continued Professional Development Portfolio including evidence of reflective practice, completion of specialist training/ courses and additional study courses attended and experience gained, Evidence of Autism assessment experience. Completed ADOS assessment training and is confident in administering the assessment, interpreting the findings and scoring the assessment. Has been completing ADOS Assessments for at least 2 years.

Desirable

Further study to Master's or equivalent level in clinical field Membership of relevant Clinical Excellence Networks (CENs)
