Job summary

Working under the supervision of a clinician andstrictly in accordance with policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols. Thehealthcare assistant will assist the clinical team in the provision anddelivery of prescribed programmes of patient care in line with assessedcompetency. In addition to the below there will be a specific focus on thedelivery of Annual Health Checks for those with Severe Mental Illness (SMI).

Main duties of the job

Annual Health Checks for patients with SMI

Other NHS Health checks

Option to rotate into General Practice

Measuring and recording:

Blood pressure

Pulse rate

Height and weight

Body mass index

Temperature

Act as a chaperone

Woundcare/dressings within sphere of competence

Cleaning and de-sanitisingand maintenance of equipment

Vaccine/coldchain storage, monitoring and recording

Supplies,equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation including consultationrooms

Vaccinations B12, Influenza, Pneumococcal and Shingles

Clip/sutureremoval

Preparing andmaintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient careinterventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of procedures

Assisting in theassessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being

Undertaking patientspecific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated andtaught specifically in relation to that individual patient

Raise awarenessof health and well-being and how it can be promoted

Assisting withthe collection and collation of data related to health and well-being

Any other dutiesdeemed appropriate for the role by the responsible clinician

The Coventry and Rugby GP Alliance is a private company limited by shares, wholly owned by local Coventry and Rugby GP practices. As a GP led organisation, we represent 50 GP practice shareholders and cover nearly 420,000 patients.

Job responsibilities

Working under the supervision of a clinician andstrictly in accordance with policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols. Thehealthcare assistant will assist the clinical team in the provision anddelivery of prescribed programmes of patient care in line with assessedcompetency. In addition to the below there will be a specific focus on thedelivery of Annual Health Checks for those with Severe Mental Illness (SMI).

** UK Driving Licence is required for this role**

Administration

Record information and activities undertaken with patients andclinicians in an accurate and timely fashion using manual or computer systemsas appropriate

Maintain confidentiality with regards to information relating topatients, relatives, staff and practice.

Other duties

Practice in accordance with agreed standards ofcare and always ensure own actions are consistent with clinical governancesystems

Alert other team members to issues of qualityand risk in the care of patients

Understand and followthe Alliance policies and procedures.
