Essential criteria

Pharmaceutical Technician qualification as recognized by the General Pharmaceutical Council, e.g., BTEC, NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Science. Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council Medicines Management Qualification Evidenced continuous professional development record and commitment to Continuing Professional Development Knowledge of Pharmacy Medicines Management / Optimisation Systems, extended technician roles, and accepted good practice Car driver or otherwise independently mobile Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work, COSHH, National and Local guidelines Knowledge of legislative aspects of medicines supply Knowledge of legal, regulatory and ethical frameworks

Basic management or supervisory qualification Understanding of clinical governance and its implications for service including quality and audit Understanding the principles of stock control systems / supply and security processes Knowledge of wider NHS agenda and issues Accredited checking technician with formal qualification
