Job Summary:

Bookmark are currently recruiting for a qualified teacher with a specialism in Science to work at a fantastic setting in Chesterfield. Due to the nature of the role, strong classroom and behaviour management is required and you must also have access to your own car for local transport between sites.
The role is initially available on a long-term supply contract however the school do want to make the role permanent for the right person.

Responsibilities:
• Plan and deliver tailored lessons that meet the individual needs and abilities of students within alternative provision settings.
• Utilise a range of teaching strategies, resources, and alternative approaches to engage and support students in overcoming barriers to learning.
• Adapt and differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning styles and behavioural needs, providing additional support or challenges as necessary.
• Employ effective behaviour management techniques and establish a positive, respectful learning environment that encourages active participation.
• Collaborate with external professionals, such as mental health practitioners, counsellors, or social workers, to support students' specific needs.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, interventions, and accommodations, ensuring documentation aligns with school policies.
• Attend meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in supporting students within alternative provisions.
Requirements:
• Proven experience in an alternative provision or similar setting, with an understanding of the challenges and needs of students who may not thrive in mainstream education.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in alternative provision and SEND education.
• Ability to create and implement IEPs and BSPs and adapt instructional strategies to meet individual student needs.
• Familiarity with a range of alternative teaching resources, de-escalation techniques, and interventions to support engagement and positive behaviour.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents/carers, colleagues, and external professionals.
• Strong organisational skills to manage and document individual student progress, assessments, and interventions.
• Patience, empathy, and resilience to support students' social, emotional, and behavioural development.
• Flexibility and adaptability to work with a diverse range of students with complex needs.
