What You’ll Accomplish

  • Drive RF backend design and architecture activities for the RF and microwave delivery system.
  • You will be responsible for RF aspects of the design, simulation, testing approaches/methodology, integration, verification, and testing.
  • Write the documentation of your RF and microwave circuits and verification tests.
  • Develop your experience in a broad range of electronics engineering subject areas.
  • Maintain multidisciplinary collaboration with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and physicists, working towards a common goal.
  • Maintain UQs’ position in using state-of-the-art electronics solutions.
  • Help in the planning and scheduling of projects, reporting progress and issues.
  • Engage with project planning activities, risk management and scheduling requirements.
  • Help with fast turn-around proof of concepts and feasibility discussions.

Requirements

The 3 Most Critical Attributes We’ll Use to Compare Candidates

  1. RF backend design experience (VHF – X-band).
  2. Hands-on experience in designing complex commercial RF systems from concept through delivery within a PCB environment.
  3. Skilled at FEA tools, preferred experience with Ansys Maxwell and HFSS.

Must-have Skills

  • Minimum 8 years’ practical/hands-on experience in MW/RF (VHF – X-band) design.
  • Experience developing and executing test plans and approaches on complex RF systems.
  • Experience with low-noise design approaches and techniques.
  • Experience in testing low-noise RF systems.
  • Proven track record of bringing MW/RF subsystem designs to market.
  • Skilled at FEA tools, preferred experience with Ansys Maxwell and HFSS.
  • Experience working with suppliers and contractors.
  • Demonstrate a strong discipline for thorough documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Team Player.
  • At least 2.1 BEng/BSc Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Analogue design experience.
  • PCB design experience (VHF-X-band).
  • Experience with RF vendor supply chain.
  • Pragmatic approach to decision-making and design choices.
  • Team and/or project management experience.
