We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher to teach Geography to KS3 and KS4 students at a secondary school in St Austell. The ideal candidate would be someone who is truly passionate about education, has good behaviour management skills and is ready to be part of a fun and supportive team. Requirements:
QTS
Relevant degree
Experience teaching within KS3/KS4 (desirable but not essential)
Roles and responsibilities:
To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, personalised and create curriculum for students.
To meet all the expected requirements within the teacher standards
To contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
To share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for academic and personal development.
To monitor and assess the progress of students as a teacher.
To work with professionalism in line with the Trust’s Code of Conduct.
To take responsibility for their own CPD To attend staff meetings and Trust-based INSET as required.
To be aware of, and comply with, Trust and school policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
This is a permanent position, starting in January 2025. Full time, Monday - Friday.
Planning and marking responsibilities will also be a part of the role.
Further responsibilities:
To maintain appropriate records and to provide relevant accurate and up-to date information for SIMS, registers, etc.
To complete the relevant documentation to assist in the tracking of students.
To track student progress and use information to inform teaching and learning. Communications
To communicate effectively with the parents of students as appropriate. Where appropriate, to communicate and co-operate with persons or bodies outside the school. To follow agreed policies for communications in the school.
To take part in activities such as Open Evenings Parents Evenings, Review days and liaison events with partner schools. Pastoral System To be a Form Tutor to an assigned group of students.
To promote the general progress and well-being of individual students and of the Form Tutor Group as a whole.
To liaise with a Pastoral Leader to ensure the implementation of the school’s student guidance and support system.
To evaluate and monitor the progress of students and keep up-to-date student records as may be required.
To alert the appropriate staff to problems experienced by students and to make recommendations as to how these may be resolved.
To communicate, as appropriate, with the parents of students and with persons or bodies outside the school concerned with the welfare of individual students, after consultation with the appropriate staff.
