We are supporting a vibrant and forward-thinking secondary school located in Rochdale, dedicated to providing a stimulating and supportive learning environment for our students. We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic DT (Design and Technology) Technician to join their dynamic team and support the delivery of high-quality DT education.

As a DT Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the DT department by ensuring that all equipment and materials are prepared and maintained to facilitate effective teaching and learning. You will assist teachers and students in practical lessons, ensuring a safe and productive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up equipment, tools, and materials for DT lessons, including woodworking, metalworking, electronics, and textiles.
  • Assist teachers during practical lessons, providing technical support and ensuring all health and safety guidelines are followed.
  • Maintain and repair tools and equipment, ensuring they are safe and ready for use.
  • Manage and organise the storage of materials and equipment.
  • Support students in using equipment safely and effectively.
  • Order and stock materials, keeping inventory records up-to-date.
  • Assist in the development of teaching resources and materials.
  • Ensure the workshop and classrooms are kept clean, tidy, and well-organized.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and risk assessments.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of the DT department.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role or a background in design and technology.
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of DT equipment and materials.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to support students and staff effectively.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in a workshop setting.
  • A relevant qualification in design and technology or a related field is desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
