Job Description

SUMMARY:

The role is responsible for independently ensuring completion of projects within specified parameters using and implementing new improved processes and tools. Projects are unrelated, with moderate to large management and dependency complexity, of medium to large scale, where the project team resource may span across a number of functional areas (both divisional, business functions and sites), and have cost/benefits case that is complex, with a moderate degree of risk and uncertainty and a moderate probably of change or the unknown.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Independently plan, monitor and manage high profile projects from initiation through to completion implementing new improved processes and tools to ensure on-time completion according to specifications and within budgeted costs

Lead the translation of project strategy into approved project plans and key deliverables for the project

Provide leadership, strategic guidance and direction to an international project team and provide leadership and support for more junior project managers

Generate budgets for complex projects; challenge assumptions for time, costs and risk in order to optimise project delivery

Identify and promote areas of improvement; Seek and implement improved work practices within R&D and wider organisation

Ensure full compliance with all Company policies, key industry standards and relevant accreditations. Prepare for, and support internal and external quality and financial audits and act as a guardian of quality

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Very experienced project management professional with depth and breadth knowledge of own discipline
  • 5+ year experience leading large global product development projects or large global multi-discipline R&D projects in biotechnology or engineering
  • Working with global cross-functional project teams.
  • A professional project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE, PMI PMP)
  • Experience developing and managing to corporate project management guidelines. Ability to apply appropriately scaled frameworks and best practice.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Quality Management Systems and experience ensuring compliance to ISO and Regulatory requirements
  • Excellent IT skills (particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project, Sharepoint etc.) and experience with ERP systems e.g. IFS, SAP
  • Successfully able to work independently on multiple tasks in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Simplify complex technical issues and tailor key messages for the relevant stakeholder group
  • Proficient stakeholder management building and maintaining strong collaborative relationships across organizational boundaries.
  • Ability to influence individuals without having direct authority over them.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to challenge existing thinking in a positive way. Ability to manage change and guide others through change
  • Use sophisticated analytical processes and independent judgement to identify innovative solutions to unique and complex problems with a broad impact across disciplines/functions. Lead others in own/other disciplines to solve complex problems.
