About therole
Were looking for an experienced datafluent impact oriented Senior Bioinformatician with a good workingknowledge of gut microbiome human nutrition epidemiology anddietary assessment to be part of our ZOE Science researchgroup.
Reporting to the Head of Nutrition Science Researchyoull be a key part of the science team shaping our researchagenda. Youll have the opportunity to design run new groundbreakingstudies with our academic collaborators from world classuniversities with a special focus on the interplay between dietlifestyle the gut microbiome.
Youll benefit from workingwith a team of incredible scientists that lead research in thefield of nutrition health the outcomes of which are published inhighimpact journals such as NatureMedicine.
Responsibilities
- Leadthe design of research studies conduct analysis and writeup datafrom trials investigating the interplay between diet lifestyle andthe gut microbiome
- Proposing analysing researchquestions to investigate associations with the gut microbiome usingdata from the ZOE research platforms
- Curationof datasets from ZOE research studies including data fromobservational cohorts (PREDICT studies) and randomised controlledtrials
- Advance ZOE science by leadinghighimpact collaborations with researchpartners
- Work with ZOE product and technologyteams to build and implement microbiome related product featuresbased on our latest scientific research (e.g. implementation ofMetaPhlAn HUMAnN pipelines and any new product features relating togut microbiome diet and health)
- Communicate ourscientific findings across ZOE teams (product technology marketingcustomer service operations academic partners) with a special focuson advancing our inhouse microbiomeknowledge
- Contribute to the dissemination ofresearch through highimpact publications and public engagementactivities
- Coach junior team members onscientific analysis methods
Essentialcriteria
- PhDawarded in bioinformatics biostatistics nutrition epidemiology orother related quantitative discipline with at least 23 yearspostdoctoral research experience
- Demonstrablerecord of publications in peerreviewed conference proceedings/scientific journals
- Statistical analysis skillsrelevant for analysing data collected from large observationalcohorts and randomised controlled trials including expertise inusing statistical software (e.g. R Python SAS SPSS) and dataplatforms (e.g. SQL dbt BigQuery)
- Ability totake ownership and project manage studies/ lead team initiatives topreagreed deadlines and budgets
- Ability tocommunicate effectively at all levels in a complexmultidisciplinary environment with the ability to produce conciseverbal and writtenreports
