Contractual Requirements

Essential

To work flexibly depending on the needs of the service, including evening and weekend working, as required. Able to travel over multiple sites; KMH & Newark Hospital

Knowledge and Skill

Essential

Advanced specialist knowledge of, and clinical skill in, the management of upper limb orthopaedic conditions, especially relating to hands; guided by standards and protocols laid down by the regional hand unit at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary (DRI), British Association of Hand Therapists (BAHT) Advanced diagnostic and assessment skills required to respond to patients with an acute or chronic musculoskeletal problem Risk factors assessment & report writing Clinical leadership skills / multi-professional teamwork Clinical Governance - setting standards, evidence based practice & CPD / supervision Effective: Teaching skills, Communication skills, Presentation skills Awareness of Professional issues relating to this clinical areas Awareness of local, regional and national healthcare priorities and NHS targets Standard keyboard and IT skills

Qualifications

Essential

Graduate Diploma or Degree BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy HPC State registration

Desirable

Post graduate accredited orthopaedic course work Membership of BAHT Membership of RCOT/CSP.

Further Training

Essential

Evidence of specialist postgraduate courses relevant to the treatment of Hands and upper limb orthopaedic conditions Evidence of CPD. Clinical educators course.

Desirable

Attended a Leadership Course. Attendance at network conferences and events.

Experience

Essential

Extensive experience, in upper limb orthopaedic outpatients Experience of being involved in service development. Audit experience. Teaching experience Multi-professional service development.

Being involved in research.
