Job summary

Ward 43/ ARU is looking for a senior Band 5 who is wantingto develop into a role of Band 6 Clinical Sister/ Charge Nurse. the role will be to work as a clinical nurseon the ward and showing leadership and support to the junior team.

it will be a role to help develop the junior nurses in therole of Respiratory Nursing.

it will the responsibility of the Sister/ Charge Nurse tomanage a team of staff under the supervision on the Ward Manager with allaspects of the development, sickness, compliance and Role.

You will also provide the team with seniorsupport and help in the role on Acute Respiratory Unit, in all aspects of NIV,HFNO and CPAP.

Job description

Job responsibilities

- Toassist in admitting patients to the ward, completing demographic details andrecording base-line observations.

- Toprovide care to patients following instructions in the care plan, programme orpathway.

- Todemonstrate competence in the accurate recording of routine clinicalobservations.

- Torecognise abnormal recordings or signs of change in a patients condition andreport changes to a registered nurse.

- Toassess patients level of dependence in meeting personal care needs and giveappropriate assistance (includes hygiene, mobility, nutrition, elimination andcomfort).

- Toassist patients to eat and drink in a sensitive and supportive manner.

- Toaccurately record information on patient food charts and fluid balance charts,reporting concerns to a registered nurse.

- To carryout clinical skills relevant to the ward/department and patient group (egphlebotomy, ECG recording, simple dressings).

- Toassist clinical team with data entry, filing and maintaining accuratedocumentation of care.

- Toassist in escorting, transferring and discharging patients, ensuring allproperty is packed and the bed area is prepared for the next patient.

- Toensure treatment rooms and ward areas are adequately stocked and tidy.

- Toparticipate in clinical supervision.

- Toassist in resolving conflict by responding to concerns and complaints in apositive manner.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nurse Recognised teaching certificate Diploma in nursing

Desirable

BSc Nursing or willing to work towards.

Experience

Essential

Minimum of 2 years relevant experience at Band 5

Desirable

Experience of change management

Statutory Registration

Essential

Registered qualified nurse.
