Contract Type: Full-Time

GSL Education are seeking SEN Teaching Assistants to work at a Client Secondary School in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. This is a mixed position that involves working with class teachers to ensure that lessons are delivered in accordance with students' individualized learning goals.

SEN Teaching Assistants Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers with lesson planning, delivering lessons under the teacher's guidance, and helping students with their learning
  • Provide dedicated support to students with SEN, both in and out of the classroom environment.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere, ensuring the well-being and engagement of students with SEN.
  • Working with class teachers, other support staff and the senior leadership team to provide the best educational, emotional, and social support that you can.
  • Be involved in assessing students' work and providing feedback.
  • Assist with maintaining classroom discipline and supporting students with behavioural issues.
  • Work with students with special educational and help them adapt to teaching methods and materials.

SEN Teaching Assistants Requirements:

  • Must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
  • Have a Level 4 or higher qualification.
  • You should have a relevant childcare or education-based qualification.
  • Be aware of and knowledgeable about different additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, MLD and SEMH.
  • Passion to working with young people to ensure barriers to learning are overcome.
  • Confident in the delivery of pre-planned lessons and interventions.
  • The ability to manage behaviour in-line with school policy.
  • Hold a Child only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
