We are looking for an experienced Interventional Imaging Nurse to join our Imaging department.
The role of the interventional radiology nurse is to provide high quality nursing care to all patients and their relatives while they are within the radiology department by using clinical experience and enhanced skills. To assist in the safe, effective and efficient management of the department within allocated resources.

What are the main responsibilities of the Interventional Imaging Nurse
To maintain confidentiality surrounding patient treatment at all times. To ensure documentation is completed accurately and within agreed timescales using Hospital approved documentation, in line with NMC and Hospital guidelines. To have knowledge of and adhere to the department and Hospital policy and professional standards. To ensure that team members do likewise and report any areas of concern to line managers. To demonstrate a professional approach to work, and act in accordance with the Hospital Code of Conduct and the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times. To participate in staff appraisal, staff development and in service training activities. To meet revalidation requirements. To identify own learning needs and ensure own professional development is maintained by keeping up to date with practice developments. Act as scrub practitioner for a variety of different interventional procedures under fluoroscopic control Assisting Consultant Radiologists with biopsies, FNA’s, drainage’s and other interventional procedures under imaging control Pre and post procedural care for imaging day cases examinations including close observations in line with national guidance and departmental procedure Provide health promotion advice to patients for diagnostic and interventional procedures and liaise with ward nursing and medical staff regarding pre and post-procedural care. Working closely with radiology consultant, radiographers and RDAs within the department Provide emotional support to patients by displaying a caring and empathetic attitude at all times. Initiate and participate in departmental developments and take a proactive role in the implementation of procedures and policies to improve patient care. To be competent in the administration of i.v and oral drugs used in Interventional Radiology and to undertake relevant drug administration training to comply with national and HJE guidelines. Make appropriate and safe decisions relating to patient needs and communicate this effectively to other members of the multi-disciplinary team caring for the patient and their family where necessary. To develop and maintain clinical skills and knowledge necessary to provide holistic, evidence based nursing care. This includes completion of training and development identified as part of appraisal and personal development (PDP) planning. Maintain patient records and ensure all relevant information is documented in the patients’ medical and nursing notes. To work in a collaborative way with all staff associated with the imaging department to ensure smooth clinic flows and to anticipate issues in advance and resolve where possible before escalating to line management. Assist in ensuring the safety of the department, and the risk management process by actively participating in risk registers and assessments, clinical audit, clinical risk and quality issues, including the managing and reporting of incidents.Am I the right person for this Interventional Imaging Nurse role?
Registered Nurse Current NMC registration in adult or general nursing Educated to first degree level or equivalent Imaging department experience Significant post registration skills Minimum of 3 years post-registration in nursing field Minimum of 6 months working within imaging department or cath lab Excellent clinical skills Excellent communicator Professional commitment and self-awareness Work without direct supervision Sound knowledge of current issues in nursing, developments Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team Good organisational and time management skills Good interpersonal skills Demonstrable knowledge and skills in a variety of clinical specialities within an outpatient’s setting.Why apply for this role?
