We are currently seeking a Process Controller to work in the Swindon Region, based at Latton WTW. This role presents an exciting opportunity to join a team that together helps produce millions of litres of water for customers.

Reporting to the Swindon Production Site Manager, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the effective and continuous operation of the sites across the region, including 7 Water Treatment Works.

No experience is required as full training will be provided Due to the nature of the role a current manual driving licence is required as this role comes with a van and travelling is required.

Once fully trained and your Licence to Operate is completed, you will be potentially required to be part of a 6-week Standby Call out Rota. Cover 1 week in 6 which you will receive additional payment.

Base Location: Latton WTW GL7 5QF.

Working Pattern or hours: 38 hours per week 07:30 – 15:36.

What you’ll be doing as the Process Controller
  • Visiting remote sites to monitor and control a range of water treatment processes such as abstraction, filtration, and disinfection.
  • Carrying out sampling and related analysis to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
  • Manual fault finding and intervention to maintain the treatment process or customer supply. Specific examples include changes in chemical dosing or pump duties.
  • You will also have to respond to emergencies, whether this is process failures or power failures. In such circumstances, you will follow established procedures to escalate, and then stabilise the process or isolate.
  • Comply with operational standards and public health standards, completing necessary documentation.
  • Taking responsibility for your health and safety and also health and safety on sites.
  • You will highlight safety observations and take action to make the area safe where possible. You may contribute to risk assessments and procedures that contribute to improving health and safety standards on site.
  • Liaise with other departments, particularly Water Quality and Maintenance, to find solutions for issues and deliver the best results for the site.
  • Maintain own technical knowledge and keep up to date with changes in procedures and asset standards.
  • Provide technical input to help with the delivery of the production plan. (this could include inputting into asset availability improvements, and investigating site trips)
  • Work with the site manager to assist with the smooth running of the site. (for example, assisting with process risk assessments, assisting with site inductions)
  • Assisting with the efficiency programme. (for example, triad and peak tariff avoidance response)
What you should bring to the role
  • Hands-on and practical with impeccable attention to detail and troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrate a ‘can-do’ attitude, have strong problem-solving abilities, and take a solution-focused approach.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Competent to use company IT systems and Microsoft Office.
  • You should have experience of lone working and be willing to work in confined spaces as well as at height in challenging conditions.
