Airedale is an NHS Foundation Trust providing a high quality care in West Yorkshire on the edge of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. We have an ambitious vision for the future for our patients and local communities.

We have an excellent purpose built JAG Accredited Endoscopy Unit with four rooms which offering a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

You will have the opportunity to lead by example and support the safe delivery of individualised care for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures supporting staff to deliver a with 24 hours out of hours on- call service.

You will be responsible for leading the nursing team on a day-to-day basis, ensuring safe, effective, holistic patient care is delivered within the clinical environment.

Through clinical leadership, adherence of the Trust Right Care values and utilisation of effective management skills, Senior Sister/Charge Nurse will ensure the department team is informed, trained, and developed to enable the highest standards of evidence based and compassionate care to be delivered to our patients, their carers, and families. To support a collaborative, open and trusting communication style to all groups that the unit communicates or interacts with from staff, to visiting teams and the individuals we care for.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to provide visible, accessible and senior leadership to the current team and also the additional staff that will be recruited for the additional capacity.

You will be expected to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care within the Endoscopy Unit.

To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain the high clinical standards required of an accredited unit.

To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

Responsible for the management of all the human resource issues relating to the staff within the unit.

Holds a delegated department budget.

Required to take the lead within your department for standards of decontamination within Endoscopy Departments, providing advice and carrying out regular audits.

Responsible for ensuring JAG standards are maintained to ensure accreditation for your department, assisting in the preparation for assessment and the monitoring of required GRS audits.

Act as a responsible and professionally accountable role model to inspire, motivate and empower the workforce Promote the development, implementation and review of standards, policies, procedures and clinical guidelines. Assist in effectively leading and motivating staff in the provision of care and future service development. Promote evidence based clinical practice in performance improvement within the unit. Act as a pivotal liaison role for the unit by providing effective communication, direction and support to staff and all stakeholders in a timely manner, which reflects and responds to population and patient needs. Be integral in the organisational and strategic development of the clinical area. Work closely with the Matron and Divisional Director of Nursing in implementing the Trust Clinical Governance and Nursing Strategy To work in partnership with all members of the multi-professional team to address patients health needs through planning and delivering interventions which are based in practice and clinical judgement.
