Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Electrically biased Craftspersonwith a working background in electrical maintenance to join the WorcestershireAcute Hospitals NHS Trust Estates team.

The Alex Estates team are a friendly team; our objective is ensuringthe hospital is fit for purpose from an Estates perspective ensuring patientshave a safe environment to be cared for in.

For this post, we require the successful candidate to be experiencedin the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of low voltageelectrical plant and distribution systems, ideally (but not essentially) in a hospital environment.It will be advantageous if you have completed a recognised electricalinstallation/maintenance apprenticeship, though we will provide training for the right candidate. This might be someone who has experience in an electrical role but doesn't have the necessary qualifications listed in the person specification.

Our Trust offers a generous annual leave entitlement of 27 days peryear rising to 29 days after 5 years service and then 33 after ten yearsservice. We offer a generous pension scheme and various other staff benefitssuch as the cycle to work scheme.

Main duties of the job

Carryingout planned preventative maintenance and testing of hospital building servicesystems such as emergency lighting, fire alarms, nurse calls, standbygenerators and fixed wire installations etc. Attendingto a variety of day to day reactive repairs and working on minor electricalinstallations as required. This could be repairing nurse calls/sockets/switchesand lights or installing additional sockets, lighting circuits etc. Reactiverepairs/fault finding on plant and equipment such as motors, control circuitsand fixed electrical wiring systems of a commercial/industrial nature. Participatein the Estates out of hours Tradesmans on call rota where you will be expectedto work on/make safe mechanical equipment out of hours. As a result, it isexpected that the successful post holder will become suitably cross skilled. Participatefully in all relevant estates procedures and ensure completion of all necessarydocumentation in accordance with Estates Department policies.

Job responsibilities

To participate in the provisionof an Estates service primarily undertaking electrical day-to-day repairs,planned maintenance, installation and minor improvements. The post is primarily based atthe Alexandra Hospital Redditch however, the post holder will be required toundertake work at Kidderminster Hospital and other Trust sites as required. To record work information as required for operation of the Planet FMmanagement system. It will be anticipated thatsome mechanical duties will be undertaken as training and experience is gained. Participation in the TrustsEstates tradesman on-call Rota to cover either site is also required. Where instructed install and test new electrical installations inaccordance with the current electrical regulations and hospital standards Person Specification

Experience

Essential

Minimum of 3yrs post NVQ/Apprenticeship completion experience Experience of working on/maintaining commercial and industrial electrical installations as well as domestic Experience carrying out Portable Appliance Testing Experience of working/fault finding on electrical systems in a hospital environment including switchgear, motors, inverters, actuators etc. Experience supervising contractors

Desirable

Experience/Working Knowledge Of HTM 06-02 Experience in mechanical systems including steam LTHW, MCW, Med Gas plant, steam boilers and steam infrastructure.

Qualifications

Essential

NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Electrical installation engineering or electrical maintenance related subject BS7671 18th edition Wiring Regulations certified

Desirable

Previously held HTM 06-02 low voltage Competent Person status in a healthcare environment City and Guilds 2391 Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection and Testing or City and Guilds 2394 & 2395 equivalent
