DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



The Ontario Renal Network's (ORN) funded Renal Pharmacy Technician role, will be accountable for the technical aspects of drug distribution for patients that are admitted into hospital, our pre-dialysis patients in clinic, home hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis programs, and patients in our in-centre hemodialysis units. The Pharmacy Technician will work to ensure patient safety and for the accuracy, quality, integrity and timeliness of pharmaceutical product and release.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPHT);
* Graduate of a CCAPP (Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs) Accredited Pharmacy Technician Education Program and within 6 months of registering with OCP;
* Knowledge of inpatient pharmacy dispensing processes- traditional and unit dose;
* Knowledge of pharmacy automation including experience with unit dose packaging and automated dispensing cabinets preferred;
* Demonstrated accuracy, organizational skills, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills;
* Proven effective verbal and written communication;
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment;
* Computer skills related to Microsoft Office including Word and Excel are preferred;
* Must have satisfactory performance record;

* Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area; and
* Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.

Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
