Job summary

We are seeking a highly motivatedand empathetic Assistant Psychologist to join our team in a residential settingwithin Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). As an AssistantPsychologist, you will work closely with qualified psychologists and othermental health professionals to provide high-quality care and support to youngindividuals experiencing mental health challenges. Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

Psychological Assessment and Evaluation:

Conduct initial assessments and assist in theformulation of psychological profiles for residents.

Administer and score standardized psychologicaltests under the supervision of qualified psychologists.

Collect and analyse relevant data to contributeto the understanding of residents' psychological needs.

Individual and Group Interventions:

Assist in the planning and delivery oftherapeutic interventions tailored to meet the needs of individual residents.

Facilitate group therapy sessions andpsychoeducational workshops aimed at enhancing residents' coping skills andemotional regulation.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness ofinterventions and adjust strategies as necessary.

About us

Nestlings Care Ltd is an independent care provider for Children and Young Adults registered with CQC and Ofsted who provide highly specialist residential placement for young people with challenging behaviors due to mental health diagnoses. Our aim is to take young people from various restrictive settings for example hospitals, secure childrens homes, to a homely environment to offer them a chance of living in the community with robust monitoring, risk management and comprehensive treatment plans. You will be supported by the Registered Manager and a highly experienced multi-disciplinary Mental Health team. Currently we have several homes across the North West of England and we have achieved positive outcomes with a number of young people.

Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teamsincluding psychiatrists, nurses, and occupational therapists to ensure holisticcare for residents.

Maintain regular communication with residents'families and carers, providing updates on progress and offering support asneeded.

Attend and actively contribute to team meetings,case conferences, and clinical supervision sessions.

Documentation and Record-Keeping:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records ofassessments, interventions, and progress notes in accordance withorganizational and professional standards.

Prepare written reports summarizing assessmentfindings, treatment plans, and recommendations for ongoing care.

Crisis Intervention and Risk Management:

Respond promptly to crisis situations, providingpsychological support and implementing appropriate de-escalation techniques.

Conduct risk assessments and collaborate withthe team to develop safety plans to mitigate potential risks to residents'well-being.

Professional Development:

Engage in ongoing professional developmentactivities such as attending relevant training, workshops, and conferences.

Seek supervision and guidance from qualifiedpsychologists to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor's degree (minimum 2:1) in Psychology ora related field; Master's degree preferred.

Previous experience working with children andadolescents in a mental health or residential setting is desirable.

Knowledge of psychological assessment tools andtherapeutic interventions commonly used in CAMHS.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability tobuild rapport and communicate effectively with young individuals, families, andcolleagues.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively aspart of a multidisciplinary team.

Excellent organizational skills with the abilityto manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.

Commitment to maintaining confidentiality andadhering to ethical guidelines in all aspects of practice.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time position.

The role requires travelling to different homeswithin the greater Manchester area so a full UK driver licence and access to acar is essential.

Successful candidates will be subject tobackground checks and clearance in accordance with local regulations andorganizational policies.
